Historical Events 1950-1955

  •  1950- During the year of 1950 was the year that the Korean war had started. It all began when North Korean Communist had invaded South Korea on June 25. Both Korean armies had attacked each other. South Korea then bombed the Han River to stop the North Korea army. Even though the war has just begun a lot has happened from then. The United States followed with South Korea and China followed along with North Korea.
  •         Another thing that happened in 1950 was that the McCarran Internal Security Bill was passed by the Congress. This was called the McCarran Internal Security Act. It was also called the Subversive Activities Control Act or the McCarran Act. This has happened during the Cold War. The era of the Cold War was that it tightened alien exclusions and deportation laws. This had allowed dangerous people in the times of war or "internet security emergency". The Democratic-controlled Congress and that made President Harry S Truman's veto to pass it.
  • 1951- In 1951, the Korean war still continued on. This was then a major Korean conflict to have happened. The Chinese were working on with North Korea. North Korea and Communist Chinese forces captured the city of Seoul which is located in South Korea. This happened on January 4. On January 5 Inchon which is also located in South Korea is where General Douglas MacArthur was. He was abandoned by the United Nations Force and moved to the Chinese Army.
  •  1952-  In 1952, it was the continuing of the Korean war. From October 6 to October 1952, the CCF attacked on the Western & Central Fronts. The CCF stands for the Chinese Communist Forces. There were different types of operations going on in 1952 of the Korean war. There was "Operation Clam Up" which is when they were assigned to lure over enemy patrols. Another operation was 'Operation Showdown" which is when they had to secure Hill 598. There were so many operations that were going on in 1952.
  •  1953- In 1953 it was the conclusion of the Korean war. Neither North Korea or South Korea won the Korean war. Instead, the two countries signed an agreement. It was the "Korean War Armistice Agreement". It was signed on July 27 1953. Since of this happening the Chinese troops withdrawn from North Korea on October 28 1958. On 1959 over 200 violations of armistice were noted. This all had ended the Korean war.
  •         Another thing that happened in 1953 was that the CIA Engineered coup installed the Shah of Iran. The Shah of Iran was the king or the prince. The CIA had to overthrow the Shah or king of Iran. The Shah of Iran's name was Mohammad Mosaddeq. The coups wanted to overthrow him because they did not want to support communism. They then completed a successful mission of overthrowing him.
  •  1954- In 1954 the French were defeated in Vietnam during the Vietnam war. The French were defeated in Dien Bien Phu. The French position on the Vietnam war had fallen and finished. This also brought to an end to another thing. This brought to an end to the French colonial efforts to Indochina. This all brought to an end to the French during the Vietnam war.
  •         Another thing that happened in 1954 was the Brown vs Board of Education. During the 1950s the world had suffered with segregation. This problem just kept continuing on and it's great that today we don't have to worry that much about segregation anymore. The women that ended the Brown vs Board of Education was Linda Brown. The Brown vs The Board of Education was also called the Brown vs Topeka. It all started when lawyers from the NAACP said that segregation in schools were illegal. When Linda Brown was little she used to take long walks to get to the bus on her way to school and so she then teamed up to her father and some lawyers to stop the segregation of schools from happening. Lots of states ended this from happening, but others were not agreed to this.

        This video talks about what happened during the Korean war in 1950 to 1953. It shows the conflict that went on between the North Koreans and South Koreans. The video shows a map of where certain attacks have happened. Also as you can see at the side of the video it has information about each conflict going on. It mainly describes what happened in 1950 and 1951. Although it does give a short explanation of what happened during 1952 and 1953. All together this explains what main points had happened in the Korean war during 1950 to 1953.

  •  1955- During 1955 it was the 1955 Atlantic hurricane season in North Carolina. Hurricane Diane was one of the three hurricanes that had hit in North Carolina. This hurricane killed more then 200 people and it caused a lot of damage. It needed about 3 million dollars to fix and repair. This made it the first billion-dollar storm. It started to hit on August 7, 1955. This hurricane had caused so much disaster until August 20, 1955.
  •         Another thing that happened in 1955 was the death of Albert Einstein. He died on April 18, 1955 at the age of 76. He was known as the father of modern physics. It was a tragedy that he died because of all the accomplishments he had created that lasted in history. The reason he died was because of a tragic heart failure. He died in Princeton, New Jersey.
