Historical Events 1966-1970

  •  1966- During the year of 1966 it was the year of the FIFA World Cup which is a huge soccer game played by people all over the world. The finals was between England and West Germany. It was held in England. England won to West Germany by the score of 4-2. Then England won the World Cup for the first time. This was also the first time the host won the tournament. This hasn't happened since Italy in the year of 1934.
  •  Another thing that happened on 1966 was a death on March 28. Navy corpsmen Robert R. Ingram was shot. He was with his group of marines in Quang Ngai province, South Vietnam. He continued to always watch himself with medical caution. He was covered in wounds and bruises. n 1998, he was awarded a medal. The Medal of Honor was dr to lost paperwork. 
  •  1967- In the year of 1967 was the year of when the first human heart transplant was performed. The transplant was done in Groote Schuur Hospital. It was done by Christiaan Barnard on December 3, 1967. Unfortunately the patient only lived for 18 days from his heart transplant. The patient's name was Louis Washkansky. Although everyday before he died his heart was beating strong and fast. 
  •  1968- A huge historical events happened in 1968. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and declared dead. This happened on April 4th of 1968 in Memphis, Tennesse when Martin Luther King Jr. was with his friends at a hotel at 6 PM. He was shot and was declared dead an hour later at St. Joseph Hospital. James Earl Ray was accused of the murder. He was sentenced in prison, but then died in prison in 1998.

This was live on April 4, 1968 and this story went in high detail of what had happened to Martin Luther King Jr. This story brought tragic to so many people of the world. The news here is so much different from the news that we watch today.

  • 1969- During the year of 1969 it was the year of an extraordinary  journey. On July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong became the first human being to walk on the moon. He was the commander of Apollo 11. Also his partner was Edwin E. Aldrin. The first words he said when he stepped foot on the moon was remembered for so long. The words he said was, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." This was on television for millions of people on Earth to see and stare at the most shocking journey to be successfully completed.
  •  1970- In the year of 1970 a famous band that were extremely popular in the sixties broke up. This band were The Beatles. They grew an enormous amount of popularity to so many people. The Beatles were together during the 1960s while they produced music that spread worldwide. Then in 1970 the band broke up and they created their own solo albums. The Beatles were never forgotten and were treated like legends of music. 
  •  Another thing that happened in 1970 was about The Aswan High Dam. It was completed on July 21, 1970 in Egypt. The Aswan High Dam was located in the Nile River which is north of the border between Egypt and Sudan. It was built to control any floods that might have occurred. It also helped out with droughts in Egypt. 
         This video was live on Neil Armstrong land on the moon. He said his first words which was, "One small step for man. One giant leap for mankind." This was actually live on his journey to the moon. His journey was on Apollo 11 and when he finally landed on the moon it was caught live. Everyone in the world were stunned that he had completed his journey. This has to be one of the most successfully journeys I have ever seen.
